Hugh performing in Chekhov’s play The Three Sisters

Hugh was one of those people who would listen to a director’s sudden change of idea.  A smile would cross his face which we knew meant ‘I am sticking to what I think’.

He was also one of those amazing people who learned their lines at once.

This is a podcast titled “Oral History” by Mellor.

The late Hugh Mellor talks fondly of friends he made and productions he was photographed in and remembers witnessing the start of the careers of many, now, well-known names. His support for Cambridge Arts Theatre has been apparent from the start of his career, not only as an actor but also in the Theatre’s renovation projects.

An oral history recorded as part of Cambridge Arts Theatre’s ‘Behind the Scenes’ Project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
